Studying plasmids is crucial to gain insights into gene transfer, antibiotic resistance evolution, and dynamics of microbial communities. As an emerging technology, single-cell sequencing has unique advantages in plasmid research.
Traditional population sequencing methods often mask differences among individual cells, whereas single-cell sequencing can delve deeply into the genomic information of each cell within microbial communities. Therefore, in our study, we aim to uncover the dynamics of plasmids in microbial communities through single-cell genome sequencing technology.
