Happy on the way to Moshi

Field sequencing in Africa – a short diary of the experience (Days 10-13 Back to Moshi and home)

This series of posts is about a field experiment that took place between 14-26 February 2022, by Frank M. Aarestrup.

As part of their collaboration, a group of researchers from the National Institute for Medical Research of Tanzania, the Technical University of Denmark and the University of Copenhagen embarked on an expedition to test a new low-cost, low-tech sequencing approach to analyzing microorganisms under real life conditions.

Days 10-13: Back to Moshi and home

Day 10: A long way to Moshi

A very long 10-hour drive to Moshi. But there were some good discussions in the car (see photo of Happy above on the way back to Moshi).

Day 11: Why not do another run?

Back in Moshi, we decided to do a bacterial run with 12 isolates, we were here anyway.

Day 12: Meetings and greetings

Final day before the flight. Meetings, analyses and a final talk over lunch in the cantina at Kilimanjaro Christian Medical Centre.

Day 13: Back in Denmark

As always, extremely good to be back, even though the weather is cold.
