Patrick Kimu from the Kilimanjaro Clinical Research Institute (KCRI), Moshi, Tanzania, is part of the GREAT-LIFE project (Global Health European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership 3 (Global Health EDCTP3) Joint Undertaking (Project #101103059)). He is visiting the Research Group for Genomic Epidemiology for a month to receive some training and information regarding high-performance computing (HPC) infrastructure & operations, bioinformatics, and how to overcome technical challenges both on HPC and in the bioinformatics area.
As a Masters student in Computer Science at University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), he has a research project entitled "Developing an Early Warning System for diarrhea outbreak among under -five children. A case study of Tanzania". This research project is investigating the following:
- Factors associated with diarrhea outbreak - and the selection of significant factors
- How the model is being developed and evaluated
- Visualization - challenge multi-factors visualization of hyperplane
